IN THE COMPANY OF WOMEN: JULIE CHANG

We'd love Julie even if she weren't related to us. After all, what's not to love? Her incredibly warm and infectious personality has earned her fans all over the country. Having started her career in New York, she's now the Entertainment Anchor for Good Day L.A. and Fox Morning News. While we're sad to have lost her to the left coast, we're glad she's able to indulge in all her many outdoor passions.

What is your favorite virtue?
I always say fear, jealousy, and dishonesty are worthless,  so I guess virtues that are the opposite of these emotional burdens. Courage. Contentment. Truthfulness.

What are your favorite qualities in a man?
I love a man who listens. Because only when he truly HEARS, can he understand who you are and what you're about. And to me, saying ' hey, I understand you'...is the same as saying 'I love you.' To understand is to love.

What are your favorite qualities in a woman?
I love a woman who's comfortable in her own skin...yet disarming, and warm.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
This is a long list so here are just a few; sharing good food & great stories with dear friends/family, surfing, scuba diving, paddle boarding in the ocean, galloping on a horse, traveling the world, exploring, learning, capturing memorable moments through a lens, the feeling one gets when being truly adventurous.

And lastly...laughing on the couch for hours with someone special.

What is your greatest fear?
Not going all the way.  One of my favorite quotes: ”There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth…not going all the way and not starting.”–Buddha

Which living person do you most admire?
I'm a woman, I work in TV, and I breath air...so of course it's Oprah!

What is your greatest extravagance?
My addiction to Roland Mouret dresses.

What is your most treasured possession?
My collection of photos.

Who are your heroes in real life?
My friend Michelle Landy because she's a high powered NYC lawyer who still makes it a priority to go to Africa every year. She works with a school and helps financially support a little boy there named Jackson. Ivory Row co-founder (and my sister!) Grace who finds the humor in just about anything. And my boyfriend, Leif,  who is the kind of man I didn't know existed.

What is your greatest regret?
Not taking my dad on a safari while he was alive.

What natural talent do you wish you had?
I'd love to be able to sing.

What's the favorite gift you've ever received?
My parents allowed me to go on Semester at Sea when I was a junior in college. The study abroad program took place on a ship...so we sailed around the world for 5 months, mostly to 3rd world or developing countries. That trip was such a gift! It tremendously shaped who I am...how I live life...and it ignited my desire to be a journalist. That journey gave me so much clarity and purpose....it forever enriched my life.

What piece of art would you buy if you had absolutely no budget?
I'd have the biggest Roberto Dutesco print possible. His gallery "Wild Horses of Sable Island" is one of my favorite places to go to when I need to feel free.

What is your favorite motto or quote?
You can't control other people...or their actions...but you can always own your reaction.

What's your favorite way to wear cashmere?
Naked:) Nothing should ever get in the way of that kind of softness.
